Caledonian Exchange, Edinburgh
Client: Kenmore Investments
Architect: TPS Design
Contractor: Barry D. Trentham
The £1.4 million contract at Caledonian Exchange is an excellent example of Henshaws design and installation capability in overcladding existing buildings, transforming a concrete clad early 1970s structure into a prestigious modern office development on the edge of the City's financial district.
The imposing main entrance façade was created utilising unitised curtainwall system incorporating concealed opening vents. The elevations of the building were clad with curtainwall system glazed in a combination of solar control sealed glass units and high performance aluminium insulated cladding.
Careful planning was required by Henshaw working closely with the Main Contractor on the project to ensure that the programme requirements were met whilst working within the constraints of a city centre location.
